Mass Media has always been my passion, ever since I was introduced to journalism at the age of 14. I decided to start my career early and enrolled in the Journalism Magnet Program at Howard W. Blake High School where I worked for the school newspaper "The Blaze" for two years. After that, I transferred to Wharton High School and graduated with honors in 2006.
I am a graduate from the University of South Florida with a B.A in Mass Communications with a concentration in Production and Programming and a minor in Communications.
I started as the News Production and Direction Intern for WVEA-TV Univision Florida Central- Entravision Inc. in 2009. Here I was exposed to many roles in the production of the six and eleven o'clock newscasts. I did many jobs such as linear and non-linear editor, graphics assistant, cameras assistant, run VTR, file and archive footage. I also helped in the pre-production, production and post-production of the two daily live newscasts in Spanish.
I had the opportunity to work with Bay News 9- Bright House Networks in the Summer of 2009. Here I worked as the News Production Intern for this 24-hour news station. I was exposed to many aspects of newscast production including editing, editorial meetings, script writing, breaking news, automated camera and video operations, promotion creation, public relations and web production.
In 2010 I interned with the Creative Services Department at WFTS-TV ABC Action News where I had the opportunity to explore a different side of a news station. I was able to produce and edit station episodics, promos, and commercials for the station's clients. I also assisted in the production of live-to-tape shows.
I am currently working for Bright House Networks Media Strategies as a Creative Services Producer & Editor for Advertising I write, shoot and edit commercials for local business in the Central Florida Area.
As a student I have also been involved in classes which challenged my writing and producing skills. I worked on a student produced documentary called "Historically Cuban: Food, Family and Fellowship" as a segment producer which allowed me to use my production and editing skills; this documentary entered and won "Best Student Documentary" in the 2010 Independents' Film Festival. I also pre-produced a PSA and wrote many scripts for radio and television. I was also part of a Television Management class in which I learned all aspects of TV as a business and an Advance Production class in which I had direct training from a station's managers, directors, producers and reporters.
Furthermore, I have been involved at my university in organizations such as the Colombian Student Association (Col.S.A), Phi Sigma Theta, National Honor Society and Corazones Unidos Siempre, Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority Inc.
I am fully bilingual and have had the opportunity to live in Colombia, Ecuador and now the United States. I have also had the opportunity to travel to many cities in Colombia, Ecuador and Australia; in the United States I have traveled to many states including Texas, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and California which has allowed me face many different cultural experiences.
I am ready to embark in new experiences and enhance my professional career wherever an opportunity arises.
